(It was called "The Final Solution.")

(It became a concentration camp in April 1940.)

4. What was the original use for the buildings at Auschwitz?

(The buildings were originally Polish Army barracks.)

5. Who were the first people interred at the camp?

(They were political prisoners, because the Jews were still confined to ghettos.)

6. What was the motto on the gates? Where was it from?

(The motto was "Arbeit Macht Frei," originally from the camp at Dachau, Germany.
